Accessibility statement
This statement applies to the Higham Hill Medical Centre website. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this site.
The standard we aim to meet
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 level AA, the standard NHS England expects of GP practice websites. This site has been designed and tested with that standard in mind.
What we have done
- clear headings and a consistent page structure that works with screen readers
- text that can be resized up to 200% without content being lost
- colour contrast that meets the AA contrast requirements
- every interactive element reachable and usable with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline
- descriptive text alternatives for images that carry information
- links written so their purpose is clear out of context
- a layout that works on a mobile phone, tablet or computer
Known limitations
We know some parts of this site are not fully accessible:
- our online consultation service, the NHS App and the NHS website are provided by other organisations, and we do not control their accessibility
- some documents we publish, such as survey results, are PDF or PowerPoint files that may not be fully accessible to screen reader users
- maps and other embedded third-party content may not be fully keyboard accessible
If any of this stops you getting the help you need, please contact us and we will give you the information another way.
Information in another format
If you need information from this website in a different format, such as large print, easy read, audio or braille, contact us and tell us what you need. We also arrange free interpreting support, including British Sign Language, for appointments.
