Community and wellbeing
More than medical appointments
Good health is shaped by more than medicine. We have our own social prescribing team in the practice, and we work with groups, activities and services across Walthamstow so patients can get help with the practical and social things that affect how they feel.

Social prescribing
Our in-house social prescribing team works alongside our clinicians. They give patients time to talk about what matters to them and connect them with support in the local community.
That might mean help with money worries, housing or benefits, support with loneliness or low mood, carer support, or joining an activity that helps you stay active and connected. You can ask us about social prescribing yourself. You do not need a referral from a GP first.

Community gardening
We have agreed a local space for community gardening that patients can use to get outdoors, stay active and meet neighbours.
We are setting the group up and will share details once dates and times are confirmed. If you are interested, speak to our social prescribing team or contact reception.

parkrun practice
We are a parkrun practice linked with Walthamstow parkrun. parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k that takes place every Saturday morning. You can run it, jog it, walk it or volunteer at it.
Some of our staff aim to meet at the event on the first Saturday of each month. New members are welcome, whatever your level of fitness. Register once on the parkrun website, bring your barcode and come and find us.
Other ways we are involved
Beyond our regular activities, we take part in events and initiatives that support the neighbourhood we serve.
- Bake sales and fundraising for local causes
- Migrant support and advice work with local organisations
- Active travel campaigning for safer walking, cycling and public transport
- Litter picks and local environmental projects
- Supporting the Walthamstow art trail and community events
