Appointments

Getting an appointment at Higham Hill

Tell us what you need through an online request and our team will arrange the right appointment or advice for you. If you would rather not use the online form, call us or come into the surgery and reception will help.

Three ways to request an appointment

Online

Make an online request and describe your problem. Requests are reviewed by our team during practice opening hours.

By phone

Call reception on 020 8527 2677 and we will complete a request with you.

In person

Come into the surgery, 258-260 Higham Hill Road, Walthamstow, London E17 5RQ, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6.30pm.

What happens after you contact us

Our clinical team reviews each request and decides the most appropriate next step, so that you see the right person as quickly as possible. This may be:

  • advice by message or telephone
  • a telephone consultation with a clinician
  • a face-to-face appointment at the surgery
  • an appointment with another member of our team, such as a nurse or physiotherapist
  • a prescription or medication change
  • a referral to another NHS service

Making a request does not automatically mean you will need to see a GP.

Evening and weekend appointments

Extended access appointments, including evenings and weekends, are provided locally by Waltham Forest FedNet. Please call the practice on 020 8527 2677 and reception can arrange one for you.

Home visits

Home visits are for patients who are housebound or too unwell to travel to the surgery. Please call us as early in the day as possible so a clinician can assess the request. A member of our team may call you back first to decide whether a visit is the right response.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot attend, please call reception on 020 8527 2677 as early as you can, or cancel in the NHS App. Cancelling early allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

Common questions

How do I book an appointment at Higham Hill Medical Centre?
The easiest way is to make an online request and tell us what you need. You can also call reception on 020 8527 2677 or come into the surgery between 8am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, and our team will complete the request with you.
Can I get a same day appointment?
Yes. Requests are reviewed by our clinical team during opening hours and urgent problems are prioritised. Tell us clearly that the problem is urgent and describe your symptoms accurately so we can arrange the right care that day where it is needed.
Are there evening or weekend appointments?
Extended access appointments, including evenings and weekends, are provided locally by Waltham Forest FedNet. Please call the practice on 020 8527 2677 and reception can arrange one for you.
Will I always see a GP?
Not always. Our team includes GPs, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians, psychologists, pharmacists and social prescribers, and we will direct your request to the person best placed to help. Many problems are resolved by advice, a telephone call or a prescription.
How do I cancel or change an appointment?
Please call reception on 020 8527 2677 as early as you can, or cancel in the NHS App if your appointment appears there. Cancelling early lets us offer the appointment to another patient.
